so much fun and so easy to make. just felt, buttons, and some thread in pretty colors. these definitely took longer than i expected, but i love the finished product.

i remember seeing the pattern for the clapotis while perusing knitty.com in 2004. it really didn’t catch my attention much. then after seeing it come up again and again on ravelry, it just annoyed me. i couldn’t comprehend how almost 10k people had been sucked into the pattern.
then one day, perusing favorited projects on ravelry, i found one knit up in the most gorgeous yarn and decided maybe the pattern really was ok.
on new year’s eve, my mom mentioned to me that a group she’s part of on ravelry had decided to do a clapotis knit-a-long. she was joining and planned to use some beautiful wollmeise she’d received from a birthday swap. she said i should make one too, and mentioned that the artyarns merino 4 i’d received for my birthday from jen would be perfect.

i caved.
and so it began…

more than halfway through, i’m in love. the pattern is interesting and i’m getting a certain satisfaction out of purposely dropping stitches. i find myself knitting past when i really feel like stopping for the night just so i can drop one more stitch.
i already have a second clapotis planned with some gorgeous wollmeise my mom got me today.
so. stoked.
such a neat idea. so excited to participate!

because it’s that time of year.
and because i can.
1. buy a bike
2. take more photos (of everything and everyone)
3. eat less junk food
4. providence!
5. budget budget budget
6. find a more suitable job—no more retail
i’m sure i’ll think of more…
So in an attempt to keep track of all my craftiness, this blog has been born. With any luck, it’ll help motivate me to finish more projects. With even more luck, it’ll end up spilling over into an etsy account which is something I’ve thought about for years now. We’ll see…
Here’s to a more productive 2009!
